In Loving Memory of a Very Talented Gentleman, achieved so much, worked so hard, it was a Gift to know him for 21 years at Radio City, and especially i since then when I looked on Him as a Friend! Thanks Terry, Rest in Peace.

Our heartfelt condolences from all his colleagues and friends at Bauer Media. Terry was an inspiration to us all and was one founding fathers of great local commercial radio. Radio City was a beacon (literally) that many others tried to copy and was the epitome of great local radio steeped in the community. Latterly I had the pleasure of serving with Terry on the IRN Board and for 30 years Terry guided and led IRN creating one of the most successful cross-industry collaborations. Terry was unique, driven, passionate, inspirational and a friend to us all. He will be very sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family x

Terry – a generous mentor, a loyal friend, first in the queue when a helping hand was needed, the greatest story teller…. but perhaps above all else a true family man. I am among many who feel privileged to have had his support and guidance over many years; and his wise cracks over many a beer! I will always treasure the memories and lessons learned from the legend Terry Smith.

We enjoyed sharing time with Terry as opposite neighbours for 33 years.

My sincere sympathies go to Pam and Terry’s family. Terry was my boss since 2003 when I joined IRN and we worked more closely since 2009 when I joined the IRN Board as MD. Since then Terry and I would chat every week on the phone about the business and if Liverpool had won then we had a chat about football too. I miss those calls on a Friday at 2pm and I will miss his unfailing support through good times and bad. I couldn’t wish for a better boss. The IRN Board recently commemorated Terry’s 30 years as Chairman of IRN at his last ever board meeting and he appreciated the recognition, which was of course richly deserved. Under his stewardship the company thrived with Terry as a constant presence, whilst the commercial radio market consolidated and directors changed. Rest in peace Terry.
