I was so sorry to hear the sad news that Karen passed away. I was lucky enough to work with her twice, at Knowsley Council & again at Liverpool Council when Karen was my line manager. Knowsley was my 1st housing job after uni & Karen had been a graduate trainee like myself – she was always so organised & professional & much more mature than the rest of us! I was always inspired by her and how she conducted herself. She was a great support as a manager.
I will always remember her fondly – her love of travel, bright clothes and her enthusiasm for the things she did.

I am so pleased our paths crossed again at Riverside – but I am especially grateful for those days in the early 2000’s sharing that tiny office in Speke. I remember the love and the support as we started out on our careers, but I mostly remember the laughter.

We began as colleagues, and I knew the moment I met you, you were special. Colleagues grew to mentor (you as always, the perfect lead), turning to best friend, you were like a sister, my partner in crime!!! I love you so much and miss you dearly, I will think of you fondly and remember everything you have taught and guided me to be. You were a true inspiration to everyone you met, you commanded a room as soon as you walked into it and you certainly got everyone’s respect with it.

Karen made such an enormous impact on my life in a very short time. By giving me the chance to join her team, I went from an extremely low point – one of the lowest I’ve had – to where I am now: confident in my work, extremely happy in my role and feeling ‘at home’ within our AS&D family. And family is the right word, because that’s how Karen made us feel.
I cannot even begin to convey just how much you’ll be missed by every single one of us. Your exemplary competence, your positivity, your encouragement, and your confidence in all of us had such a galvanising effect and I know I’ll always stick to the following axiom:
“What would Karen do?”
If I can get the answer to that even half-right, I know I’ll be on the right path.
